Pabst Brewing Co
American beer makers Pabst Brewing Company produces more than 30 of the country’s top selling beers and is a staple for many beer enthusiasts.
Since its establishment in Milwaukee in 1844, Pabst has prided itself on brewing distinctive and quality beers and is now the biggest American owned brewery.
Interestingly during Prohibition, Pabst ceased producing beer and changed to making cheese – selling over eight million pounds of cheese. Fortunately for beer lovers the company returned to beer production and has gone on to make one of most internationally recognised and iconic beers.
Pabst’s staple and most popular beer is Pabst Blue Ribbon, originally called Best Select and Pabst Select.
After being recognised with numerous awards in America and around the world, Pabst began tying blue silk ribbon around the bottle neck of each beer to highlight its honour as a winner.
As demand rose for the beer so did the need for blue silk ribbon. By 1892 the brewery was purchasing one million feet of it each year which workers would lovingly hand tie around every bottle.
The tradition continued over the years but since 1950 the real ribbon has been replaced by a blue ribbon permanently on the label.
Pabst Blue Ribbon is a premium lager made with a six row barley infusion which adds its smooth and robust taste.
