Back in 2002, a funky little Colorado brew-pub, Oskar Blues, started canning their hugely hopped pale ale in a can. In the years that followed, they opened breweries located in Brevard, North Carolina and Austin, Texas, all of which continue today.
Oskar Blues beers are canned, allowing their beers to stay fresher for long, eliminating the damaging effects of light and ingressed oxygen, whilst being easily portable and recyclable.
Gubna Imperial Ale is reinvented each year with a new hop bill.
Each year, Gubna is re-invented with a new hop bill. Concurrent hop selection panels at each of the Colorado, North Carolina and Texas breweries picked some of the highest quality and most exciting hops of the season to make this formidable and complex imperial IPA.
Gubna is brewed with whole leaf Galena hops, followed by the addition of Columbus and Sorachi Ace which spike the spicy blackcurrant notes and subtle citrus overtones.
Dry hopping then takes place with El Dorado, Comet and Chinook hops, adding a dank, dense pineapple and lemon zest nose and a unique flavour of grapefruit, apricot and herbs, followed by a clean and bitter finish.
The base of Rye, North American Pale and Munich malts give a smooth and flavourful backbone to support the gargantuan load of hops.
