Kopparbergs Bryggeri

Kopparberg Cider is made by Kopparberg Breweries in the town of Kopparberg in central Sweden. Established in 1882, the brewery is family owned and is the main employer for the tiny town of just 4,000 people. Kopparberg Breweries AB is Sweden's largest cider brewing company.

Process

The people who founded Kopparberg originally came for its copper reserves. Even Kopparberg's much-loved traditional barns have a copper connection, being painted in the copper pigment known as Falun red. However, copper and gold weren't the only resources Kopparberg boasted, bubbling from underground was something just as precious: soft water. Soft water has a low mineral content, which allows natural tastes to come through unaltered. The best pilsners in the world use soft water, as well as the best Japanese sakis. Our soft water is so valued that, some years ago, a Swiss consortium tried to buy our wells to export our water to Switzerland. Kopparberg uses only this water for its cider.

Taste

Originally launched in apple and pear cider variations, non-alcoholic pear cider and cider with mixed fruit were added in 2007. It is now available in 10 variants: Pear, Apple, Mixed Fruit, Strawberry & Lime, Elderflower & Lime, Naked Apple, Alcohol Free Pear Cider, and Alcohol Free Mixed Fruit Cider, plus Summer Fruits and Winter Fruits.
