Hawkshead Brewery started its life in an old barn located at Hawkshead near the Esthwaite Water back in 2002. However due to their increased popularity they found that four years later they had outgrown their location and had to move to Mill Yard at Staveley which sits next to the River Kent, in the Lake District, UK. They decided to position their brewery inside Chadwick’s Mill, an old wood turning mill. They also added a nice extension that consisted of a beer hall and brewery tap so they can enjoy the brews they make on site.
Hawkshead’s intention is to give beer lovers a brew that is unique, bold, hand crafted, full of flavour and modern. They hunt down the best hops from the best hop farms in the UK, Slovenia, USA and New Zealand and it is then brewed by their team of brewers who have the utmost passion for the beers they make. The team at Hawkshead consists of five brewers and between then they produce 20,000 litres or, if you prefer, 120 barrels on a weekly basis.
Hawkshead delivers throughout the North of England and, of course, to us here at Beers of Europe. And if you are ever in the Lake District, their bar is open every day should you want a freshly brewed Hawkshead beer.
