After spending 15 years maturing in American white oak casks formally used for bourbon, approximately 30% then follows with 3 years in Spanish oloroso casks. When both batches hit that special 18 year target, they meet again in matrimony to create a rich and full bodied whisky. The sheer quality in the casks means this is a whisky of real distinction and is quite at home in Glenmorangie’s core range and it won an World Whisky Award as recently as 2010
It has a dried fruit aroma with a complex floral fragrance complete with hints of honey and spice. The taste has fruity notes with a flowery scent and dates and figs emerge with a hint of wood smoke. The finish is long with an oak and subtle dryness on the palate.
