Argentina’s favourite beer Quilmes can boast to stand on more shelves in bars, restaurants and shops than any other brewed in the country.
Cerveceria y Malteria Quilmers is a brewery established in 1888 in Argentina’s capital city Buenos Aires. Since that date is has grown rapidly and by the 1920s Quilmes was the most request beer in the city . . . and now it is somewhat of a national symbol.
With close links to the national football team – it has sponsored it and shares the traditional colours of light blue and white on the cans and bottles – Quilmes in Argentinean through and through.
Quilmes beer is a crisp premium golden lager at 4.9 % which has a distinguishable refreshing taste that is rich in texture and slightly hoppy in taste. All of this makes for a thirst quenching beer that has grown popular throughout South America and deserves to reach taste buds further afield.
The classic Quilmes lager beer comes in two sizes 330ml and 970ml – Quilmes states the super sized latter is rumoured to the largest long bottle neck in the world.
