Tasting Notes: Brooklyn Monster Ale is a classic barley wine, a style of ale originally brewed by the butlers to the English and American aristocracy. It is brewed from three mashes of heirloom British malt and spiced with aromatic American Willamette, Cascade and Fuggle hops. After four months of aging, it has a magnificent burnished copper color, an aroma redolent of sherry, citrusy hops and fruit, a soft, warming, complex palate, a spiritous finish, and a strength of 10.8%. It is vivacious when young, but will age gracefully for many years, becoming more complex over time.

Tasting Notes: Smugglers Grand Cru is brewed for strength and is aged for a minimum of 9 months in whisky casks sent to Cornwall especially for this purpose from the Tomintoul Distillery in Perthshire, Scotland. This ageing process adds complexity to the beer , with hints of smooth oaky vanilla, toffee and spirit underpinning the notes of sweet and spicy forest fruits derived from the base beer. Finally, to finish, the beer is bottled using the methode Champagnoise at the Camel Valley Vineyard on Cornwall. The unique qualities of Smugglers Grand Cru were recently recognised when it was awarded the Gold Medal in the speciality beer category at the London Quality Drinks Awards 2011.

Tasting Notes: Non-Alcoholic Beer Svyturio Nealkoholinis is a beer that can serve as a refreshment even for drivers. In tests it has been shown that even if one drinks 1-2 litres of this beer, the blood concentration of alcohol is zero. Svyturio Nealkoholinis beer is made according to the same technology as ordinary beers. During the production process, the procedures and quality raw materials that are characteristic of other kinds of Svyturio are also used. Only at the end of the production process of the new beer, is the alcohol removed by applying dialysis. Alcohol removed by applying this special technique does not exceed 0.5 percent of volume. Svyturio new beer has a light, mild taste and aroma, and is very refreshing with a rich head.

Tasting Notes: Thornbridge has released a black IPA for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival. The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops. The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
